Grants of up to $5,000 to Newfoundland and Labrador individual artists for support during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding is intended to assist professional musicians and artists whose income has been negatively impacted by the pandemic and who have experienced lost opportunities due to the crisis.

This is a one-time non-repayable contribution of up to $5,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Artist Support Program is open to new applicants as well as artists who received a grant from the program during the previous intake period (November 2020—March 2021).

Eligible Applicants:
- Are professional artists as defined in Section 5 of the Status of the Artist Act.
- Can provide gross revenue from artistic activities in 2019 (sales, grants, awards, commissions, residencies, artist fees, royalties, performances). Applicants may be asked to provide additional back-up documentation.
- Can demonstrate at least 25% in lost earnings and opportunities from artistic activities since March 2020 by providing a detailed list of cancellations and other lost opportunities. Examples may include, but are not limited to:
Invitations for performances, artist residencies, talks, panels, exhibitions, festivals, fairs, readings, teaching opportunities, and other appearances where your work may have been sold and your profile as an artist promoted; Reduced earnings resulting from the closure of bookstores, galleries, private studios and theatres; Reduced royalties; Costs associated with adaptation from live to digital dissemination; and Research, workshopping, and other activities that may have led to a completed project, but were not possible to undertake.
- Expect to experience lost opportunities and earnings in the foreseeable future.
- Are current residents of Newfoundland and Labrador (defined as living in the province a minimum of the last twelve months or filed their 2019 tax return in the province). If there are any special circumstances related to your residency, please include it in the application.
- Are at least 18 years of age.

If you have received funding through the Tourism and Hospitality Support Program or the Small Business Assistance Program for similar activities, you are not eligible for this program.

Application deadline for the Tourism and Hospitality Support Program is October 14, 2021.

First-time applicants will be required to upload specific documents to the online application system, as outlined below:
- VOID cheque or bank-issued direct deposit form stamped and signed by your financial institution.
- List of lost opportunities and earnings.
- A copy of your curriculum vitae (CV/resume) detailing your career in the arts.
- Any relevant information on additional income.
